CONCERTS

On festival weekends, the historic residences of Bergamo open the doors of their halls to reveal rich architectural and artistic treasures and show off the beauty of a cultural heritage yet to be fully discovered.

The journey from one residence to another is punctuated by precious and exclusive performances by some of the performers and ensembles involved in the Donizetti Opera Festival, following the contemporary international chamber repertoire or similar of the great composer.

EXPERIENCES IN THE HISTORICAL RESIDENCES

In 2017, DimoreDesign participated in the programme ‘Bergamo Terra di Donizetti’ (Bergamo Land of Donizetti), a wide-ranging territorial project aimed at promoting the figure of Gaetano Donizetti and elevating him to the symbol of Bergamo, through a touristic and cultural itinerary interweaving the history of the Great Maestro with that of his hometown, Bergamo.

THE HISTORIC RESIDENCES

Palazzo Agliardi

Historic residences
24121 Bergamo (BG), Via Pignolo, 86
Palazzo Agliardi, originally named Martinengo Colleoni, stands at No. 86 of the street Via Pignolo, in one of the suburbs of Bergamo where important noble families and merchants of the 16th century chose to build their stately homes. On entering the residence there is a large courtyard. In the interior are five rooms decorated with eighteenth-century frescoes by Carlo Innocenzo Carloni and Federico Ferrario. The bright central hall opens out onto a suggestive hanging garden. A staircase takes...

Villa Grismondi Finardi

Historic residences
Via Volturno 11A-23, 24124 Bergamo (BG)
Located near to the centre of Bergamo, Villa Grismondi Finardi started life as a country house and owes its current name to the noble Grismondi families who lived here in the 18th century, and to the Finardi families, who owned it from the mid-1800s. Between 1855 and 1858, the architect Giacomo Bianconi worked on the restoration that determines its current appearance, with sober exteriors and lavishly decorated interiors, as well as designing the large nineteenth-century English garden,...

Palazzo Moroni

Historic residences
Via porta dipinta, 12, Bergamo
At No. 12 in the street of Via Porta Dipinta is the entrance portal to the stately Palazzo Moroni, one of the greatest expressions of seventeenth-century architecture in Bergamo. The residence’s sober facade, just like its courtyard with a statue of Neptune, is in stark contrast to the baroque imprint of its interior, with frescoes by Barbelli decorating the impressive staircase and the main rooms of the house, complete with furnishings and works of art bearing witness to the Moroni...
