Up go the lights for the fourth edition of the International Donizetti Opera Festival 2018, which, prepared by the artistic director Francesco Micheli, will involve the public, until 2nd December, in a great celebration of Gaetano Donizetti.

The first event of the festival is the Inaugural Gala on 22nd November, at the Teatro Sociale, at 8.30pm. As well as Donizetti, the event is also dedicated to Rossini, to mark the 150th anniversary of his death. The festival’s musical director, Riccardo Frizza launches the debut in Bergamo on the podium for the RAI National Symphony Orchestra, with the Donizetti Chorus (whose choral master is Fabio Tartari) and a group of exceptional vocal soloists, including the mezzo-soprano Daniela Barcellona and soprano Jessica Pratt (nominated this year as artist in residence of the Festival), with tenors Levy Segkapane and Xabier Anduaga, engaged in roles from ‘Rita’, ‘Lucia di Lammermoor’, ‘Don Pasquale’ and ‘La Favorite’, by Donizetti and Tancredi, and ‘Semiramide’, ‘La donna del lago’ and ‘Il barbiere di Siviglia’ by Rossini.

The inauguration will also be an opportunity to present another company that has joined the ‘Ambasciatori di Donizetti’ (Donizetti Ambassadors) project, with Jessica Pratt, during the concert, wearing jewellery by D’orica, a goldsmith’s of excellence from Vicenza. As part of the Donizetti Opera Festival, D’orica will also present its new jewellery collection entitled ‘Treesure’, precious and exclusive items that combine the art of goldsmithery with that of silk entirely produced in Italy. Thus another member joins the group of private citizens and companies that, through Art Bonus, lends its support to the festival, and to the promotion of the community of Gaetano Donizetti’s birthplace.
